Building connected communities, together!

We’re joining forces once again with PG&E - introducing the Connecting Hometowns Grant to support Habitat for Humanity affiliates in targeted communities in Northern and Central California. Grant opportunities are competitive and designed to engage PG&E employee volunteers to increase positive impact in the target communities both organizations serve. How? By empowering families through the benefits of homeownership!

Eligibility Requirements + Program Parameters

Requirement # 1
Be Invited to Apply

The Connecting Hometowns Grant is by invitation only to affiliates that meet specific criteria and operate within one of five PG&E service regions in Northern and Central California. Please do not forward this opportunity to other affiliate contacts.

Requirement #2
Be in Good Standing

Your affiliate must be in good standing with HFHI, and remain so for the duration of the grant cycle.

Requirement #4
Host a Build Event in June, 2025

Between June 9 and June 30, 2025 - in conjunction with National Homeownership Month - your affiliate must host one or more meaningful team volunteer experiences for a minimum of 20 PG&E employee volunteers.

Volunteers must be engaged at either:
a) a new construction build,
b) a home repair project,
c) a playhouse build, or
d) on a ReStore activity*

Your affiliate will coordinate with PG&E as they manage employee volunteer recruitment and logistics.

*as an alternate activity for a subset of the 20 volunteers simultaneously with a build activity - should not be a stand-alone activity

Requirement #5
Media + Promotion

Your affiliate will be asked to acknowledge grant support through media outreach and promotion, coordinating with PG&E to solicit media coverage of your event in your local media market. You may be asked to host a PG&E executive or a larger campaign kickoff media event, for which PG&E and Habitat CA will provide support. Your affiliate agrees to utilize a branded toolkit provided by Habitat CA for local press outreach, social media engagement, and affiliate network outreach.

Requirement #6
Grant Use Agreement

Grant funding should be used solely for non-administration programmatic purposes, other than those administrative costs associated with construction activities.

Requirement #7
Post-Grant Deliverables

Post event, you will be required to adhere to reporting requirements outlined in the grant application, including submission of a brief post-event impact summary and 7-10 high-quality photos of volunteers and event activities.

Requirement #3 Partnership + Branding

Your affiliate will work in partnership with Habitat CA and PG&E, designating a primary contact to serve as liaison. You will be expected to and participate in Habitat CA-coordinated communications and orientations, as well as to utilize initiative-branded assets provided to you.
